Lincoln Police responded to a disturbance Saturday morning and ended up arresting a Mississippi man in town for the funeral for his son who was fatally shot Christmas Eve.
Police spokeswoman Erika Thomas said shortly before 6 a.m., officers were called about a man pounding on the door and windows of a home in the area of North 70th and Orchard streets, where they contacted Johnathan McCray of Jackson, Mississippi, and learned he had a warrant for his arrest out of Tennessee.Â
Thomas said McCray is the father of Johnathan McCray Jr., who died Dec. 24, after he was shot by his brother in a case of mistaken identity.
She said that while McCray, 41, was being arrested on the warrant, which was on a robbery charge, he spit in the face of an LPD officer.
