A 14-year-old has been charged for allegedly stealing five cars in a matter of two weeks, according to court documents.Â
On Oct. 28, at about 12:30 a.m. Lincoln police were sent to a residence near South 43rd Street and Faulkner Court on reports of an auto theft, according to the probable cause affidavit.Â
The person reporting the crime told officers his Buick was stolen, and surveillance near the residence captured images of a male getting into the vehicle.Â
Police searched the area and located the car near South 46th Street and Browning Court at about 1:10 a.m.
The victim told police he had $100 in cash stolen from the center console and that the Buick sustained some damage to the front bumper, according to the affidavit.Â
Last week, on Friday, LPD received another report of a stolen vehicle around South 74th Street and Karl Drive.Â

The 50-year-old victim told police his Black Honda Pilot was stolen overnight with a Glock handgun located in the glove box.Â
Police believe the Honda was left unlocked with the keys inside, according to the affidavit.
The 14-year-old suspect later told police he threw the gun into a storm drain. Police were able to locate the gun.Â
Sunday night, around 10:05 p.m., a 32-year-old victim contacted police to report that his Black Volkswagen Passat had been stolen from his residence near Deerwood and Starling drives.Â
Video footage showed three individuals checking the door handles of vehicles near the home before getting into the Volkswagen and leaving.Â
Police believe one of the suspects in that theft is the 14-year-old boy they arrested.
The victim told police that the vehicle's windows were down and the keys were inside.
On Monday, at around 11:45 p.m., a 47-year-old Lincoln resident heard a car engine start up outside her home near Truchard Road and South 90th Street.
She told officers that when she looked outside, she noticed her car, a Silver Ford Explorer, was no longer there.
According to the affidavit, video from the area showed three suspects near the home getting into the Explorer and leaving.Â
At about 12:30 a.m., police found the Ford next to a red Nissan Altima at a shopping center near Andermatt Drive and South 87th Street. An officer approached the vehicles and both drivers fled.Â
Police say the Nissan was also reported stolen in a previous case.
Officers found the Ford just up the road on Andermatt Drive in a Firestone parking lot.Â
At about 1:10 a.m., police located the red Nissan near South 66th Street and Deerwood Drive with the 14-year-old inside. Officers took the boy into custody.Â
The boy was charged with four counts of theft by unlawful taking of $5,000 or more, theft by unlawful taking of $1,500 to $4,999 and possessing or receiving a stolen firearm.Â
The boy is being held at the Lancaster County Youth Services Center. Police are still looking for the other suspects.

A line of people waiting to vote has been normal at the Lancaster County Election Commission Office at 601 N. 46th St., as it was Friday afternoon. The office will be open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to allow voters to cast an early ballot.
