Sam Hoiberg hasn’t smelled the car air freshener with his dad’s face on it.
“And I’m not curious about it either,” he said with a smile.
It’s part of Nebraska men’s basketball’s “Ladies’ Night at the Vault” promotion during the Huskers’ game against Rutgers on Thursday, leaning into Fred Hoiberg’s clean-cut persona.
The air freshener, a small ornament with nothing to it besides Hoiberg’s smiling face, is part of a giveaway.
There’s also a “specialty #32 sangria” available that night, a reference to Hoiberg’s jersey number at Iowa State and with the Minnesota Timberwolves and T-shirts available for sale that say “Our coach is better looking than your coach.”
Hoiberg’s face also makes an appearance on the shirt, against the red background next to the white lettering.
