The Nebraska football team isn’t done with its 2025 recruiting class just yet, and the Huskers' next target is a top in-state recruit.
Millard South tight end Chase Loftin, a Florida State commit, has remained on Nebraska’s radar as a priority 2025 prospect and will visit Lincoln for the UCLA game this Saturday.
“My commitment to Florida State is still strong, but I’m going in with an open thought process,†Loftin said.
A busy summer slate of visits led to Loftin narrowing his focus to Florida State, Nebraska and Texas A&M. He picked the Seminoles in late June.
The Huskers have continued to recruit Loftin with head coach Matt Rhule, offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield and wide receivers coach Garret McGuire staying in touch with Loftin since. So have many of the players with whom Loftin will take his visit this weekend.
A large contingent of Nebraska’s 2025 recruiting class is expected to visit for the game, including in-state commits Tyson Terry, Jackson Carpenter, Pierce Mooberry, Caden VerMaas, Conor Booth and Christian Jones.
“They always say ‘Go Big Red’ when they see me, but they do a good job of respecting what I need and they understand it,†Loftin said of the other in-state recruits whom he’s built friendships with.
Loftin is in the midst of a dominant senior season on the gridiron, where his nine receiving touchdowns are the most of any Millard South player. Formerly at Elkhorn North, a jump up to the Class A level hasn’t stopped Loftin from posting a third consecutive 30-catch season — and his numbers would be much greater if not for the ease with which Millard South has won games.
Outside of a season-opening loss to Basha (Arizona), a game in which Loftin recorded a season-high 13 catches and 128 yards, the Patriots haven’t needed their starters for all four quarters. At 8-1 on the season and the No. 2 seed in the Class A state football playoffs, Loftin and Millard South are among the favorites to finish as the state’s best team.
The senior feels he’s improved as a route runner, pass catcher and overall tight end, and he’s eager to help Millard South begin its playoff journey this Friday. After that, though, it’s onto Lincoln this Saturday for another look at the Nebraska football program.
“I can definitely tell they’re building something there; I think coach Rhule’s building something special,†Loftin said. “I think Dylan Raiola’s a great quarterback, so I think the program is up and coming.â€
Other 2025 visitors expected in Lincoln this weekend include Julian "JuJu" Marks, a four-star lineman who committed to Nebraska last weekend, and Lee’s Summit (Missouri) North defensive lineman Ka’Mori Moore. A former Oklahoma commit, Moore previously played for NU assistant coach Jamar Mozee at Lee’s Summit North. The three-star lineman also recently visited Iowa State.
Several 2026 targets, including defensive linemen Titan Davis and Hunter Higgins, are also expected to visit Nebraska this weekend.
