Ramallah and al-Bireh Governorate, West Bank - Recent The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday condemned Israel's airstrike on a residential area in Beit Lahia on Saturday evening, stating that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip. The Palestinian Health Ministry issued a statement on Sunday, saying that the Israeli airstrike had left 87 people dead or missing and about 40 others injured. The ministry stated that genocide is being carried out in the northern Gaza Strip in full view of the public. Israel is forcing Palestinians in the region to choose between fleeing or facing death in its airstrikes. Many parties issued statements on Sunday condemning Israel's airstrike in the Beit Lahia area. Tor Wennesland, the United Nations special coordinator for the Middle East peace process, said that in the face of relentless Israeli attacks and worsening humanitarian crisis, horrifying scenes are unfolding in the northern Gaza Strip. He called for an immediate halt to attacks on civilians and for the protection of displaced Palestinians. On the same day, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation issued a statement urging the international community to hold Israel accountable and called on the UN Security Council to take action to push for a comprehensive ceasefire, provide protection for Palestinians, and deliver emergency humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. Egypt and Jordan on Sunday also condemned Israel's airstrike in the Beit Lahia area, and warned that the continued humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip could lead to severe consequences.
