Nebraska State Patrol troopers arrested an Ohio man and rescued a toddler after a pursuit in western Nebraska on Saturday, officials said.
On Saturday afternoon, police in Columbus, Ohio, alerted the State Patrol that a suspect in the abduction of a 3-year-old girl was possibly traveling west with the child in a GMC Sierra pickup on Interstate 80 through Nebraska, the State Patrol said in a news release Sunday.
Troopers located the pickup near mile marker 245, close to Overton, and attempted a traffic stop. The pickup then sped up, reaching speeds of approximately 100 mph while passing vehicles on the shoulders.
Troopers ended the chase and issued alerts to other law enforcement agencies.
A short time later, the pickup was spotted heading north on Cozad Road into Custer County before heading west on U.S. 40 near Callaway.

Troopers attempted to stop the pickup using stop sticks, but the driver continued, heading toward the intersection of U.S. 40 and U.S. 47.
There, the State Patrol set up additional stop strips, but the pickup drove off the road toward a trooper, who was able to get out of the way.
The pickup eventually headed west on U.S. 92 before leaving the road, plowing through a fence and coming to a stop in a field.
Troopers arrested the driver, Diego Revilla Gonzalez, 27, without incident and located the 3-year-old child in the backseat. The child was medically cleared and placed in protective care pending reunification with family, the release said.
Gonzalez was arrested on suspicion of flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, child abuse without injury, attempted assault on an officer and numerous traffic violations. He was lodged in the Custer County Jail.
