Presumed Guilty, an eight-day series produced by the Journal Star, told the story of a 1985 murder and the troubled investigation that led to the wrongful conviction of six men and women.
The group – who came to be known as the Beatrice 6 – spent a combined 75 years in prison before new DNA testing set them free.
The botched investigation and wrongful convictions resulted in a still-unpaid $28.6 million judgment that ooms over the heads of Gage County residents and makes headlines to this day.
Here's a look at 12 of the most important events in the case.
