Three former Nebraska football defenders found new collegiate homes this weekend.
Only one of the trio, linebacker Stefon Thompson, followed former NU defensive coordinator Tony White to Florida State.
The Seminoles had recruited Thompson out of the transfer portal last cycle, when he left Syracuse for Nebraska.
Two edge rushers, Jimari Butler and Princewill Umanmielen, transferred to LSU and Mississippi, respectively.
Butler has one year eligibility remaining. After a strong sophomore season, he battled injuries as a junior in 2024, but still finished with 22 tackles and two sacks.
Umanmielen has two years and has not yet taken a redshirt season. His older brother, Princely, had 10.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss for Ole Miss this season. He’s considered a 2025 NFL Draft pick.
