Lincoln Southeast won't play football this week.
The Knights, scheduled to play Omaha Benson Thursday, saw that game called off after Benson announced Monday night it was cancelling the rest of its season due to low participation numbers.
The Bunnies, 0-7 and scheduled to play Southeast and top-ranked Millard South the next two weeks, will forfeit both games.
Benson was on a 17-game losing streak before the cancellations. That included a 93-0 loss to Lincoln North Star in 2023 that set a Class A record for points in a game by one team. This year there was a 77-0 loss to Lincoln Northeast, and a 43-3 loss to Lincoln High three weeks ago.
That's the same Lincoln High team that ended last week's game against Millard South at halftime, facing a 63-0 deficit and dwindling numbers. That result re-ignited the debate on the gap between the haves and the have-nots in Nebraska's largest classification.

The forfeit will improve Southeast's record to 6-2 and secure a playoff spot for the Knights. Southeast will play Lincoln East on Oct. 25 to end its regular season.
Millard South's regular-season finale is now Friday at North Platte.
