Friday: Lincoln 4, Gary SouthShore 3
What went right: It may have just been the second out of the top of the ninth inning, but a fielder's choice from Lincoln Saltdogs second baseman Dakota Conners to catcher Max Hewitt stopped the tying run from scoring and Dan Kubiuk picked up his seventh save of the season.
A Spencer Henson sacrifice fly and a two-run double from Alex Baeza in the bottom of the first to give Lincoln a quick 3-0 lead out of the gates. Nick Anderson added an RBI single in the third inning to cushion Lincoln's lead to 4-0.
What went wrong: A two-run blast from the RailCats' Carlos Rincoln and a RBI double from Guillermo Quintana put Gary SouthShore within striking distance in the top of the sixth. Gary SouthShore finished with eight hits to Lincoln's five hits.
