Former President Donald Trump endorsed Nebraska's senior U.S. senator's reelection bid in a social media post Monday night, hailing Republican Deb Fischer as an "America first" conservative and casting her independent opponent as a "radical" leftist.
In a post Monday evening on Truth Social, the website following the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, Trump said Fischer is "doing a fantastic job in the United States Senate."
The three-time Republican presidential nominee pointed to Fischer's post on the Senate's Armed Services Committee, where Trump said she is "fighting to protect our country against the Marxists, communists and lunatics on the radical left."
"Deb is working hard to grow the economy, secure the border, stop migrant crime, support our great military/vets, champion our incredible farmers and ranchers, and defend our always under siege Second Amendment," Trump wrote, adding that Fischer has his "complete and total endorsement."
BREAKING: President Donald J. Trump has just officially endorsed my campaign!

Fischer, a former state lawmaker and rancher from Valentine who is seeking her third term in the Senate, said in her own social media post Monday night that she is "honored to have President Trump’s support."
"Together, we will lower the cost of living, secure the border, fight for working families, stand up for Nebraska agriculture and keep America safe," Fischer said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
Fischer after Trump  in part so he could campaign on the issue.
Trump's endorsement of Fischer comes after her opponent, Dan Osborn, by a single percentage point. The poll showed Fischer polling at 39%, compared to Osborn's 38%, though the analysts attributed the race's narrow margin "almost entirely" to Osborn's status as an independent candidate.
Nearly half of respondents  they hadn't heard enough about Osborn to have an opinion about him.
A U.S. Navy veteran and former labor leader, Osborn is seeking to become the first non-Republican elected to the Senate in Nebraska since 2006. Fischer has declined to debate Osborn, who last month.
In his post Monday night, Trump said Osborn "would be absolutely terrible for the great people of Nebraska," blasting Fischer's sole challenger as a "'Bernie Sanders Democrat' who does not stand for Nebraska values, and never will."
A former union president who , Osborn has leaned into his working-class roots in his dark horse campaign to unseat Fischer, calling for cuts to middle-class and small-business tax rates and raising the federal minimum wage, which has been $7.25 an hour since 2009.
In a statement Tuesday, a spokesman for Osborn's campaign said Nebraskans "can’t trust Deb Fischer," pointing to that year following the surfacing of a recording of Trump boasting about sexually assaulting women.
"She betrayed Donald Trump in 2016, and now she’s groveling for his support," the spokesman said. "She , and now she's breaking that promise.
"She’s gone full Washington, and she’ll do anything to stay there serving the corporate interests that fund her campaign. Dan Osborn isn’t part of the DC swamp. He will keep his promises and work with Donald Trump or whoever is in the White House to put Nebraskans first."
Fischer won more votes than any other candidate in Nebraska's statewide primary in May, outpacing both Trump and Nebraska's junior U.S. senator, Pete Ricketts, the state's former governor who was appointed to the Senate in January 2023. He is running against Democratic challenger Preston Love Jr. in a race to fill out the remaining two years on former Sen. Ben Sasse's term.
Ricketts and Fischer are among nine incumbent GOP senators seeking election to the chamber in November. Trump had already endorsed Republican incumbents in Wyoming, North Dakota, Mississippi, Tennessee and Florida.
The former president hasn't yet endorsed Ricketts, but who .
Trump also hasn't endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo.
