The Lincoln Community Foundation has announced its new leader, who will assume the role in August.
On Friday, the foundation’s board of directors announced the selection of Tracy Edgerton as its new president and CEO. Edgerton will succeed Alec Gorynski, who announced his resignation last month.
The Lincoln Community Foundation is a local nonprofit that has focused on inspiring the community to give, act and lead since 1955. Each year, the foundation hosts Give to Lincoln Day, which follows a month of donations for local causes and nonprofits. This past May Give to Lincoln Day brought in a record-breaking $8.5 million.
Previously, Edgerton served as the vice president of philanthropy services and general counsel at the foundation, where she managed the development and fundraising programs. In that role, Edgerton worked directly with donors and their professional advisers to develop comprehensive gift-planning strategies based on their individual goals.
“Eight years ago, I was eager to join the incredible team of professionals at the foundation who come to work every day to serve the organization and our community,†Edgerton said in a news release. “I am now excited to serve the foundation in a different way as we work together with focus and innovation to build on the momentum of the past and create a better tomorrow.

Foundation Board Chair Mark Hesser said Edgerton has played an integral role in the foundation’s growth over the past eight years.
“With her extensive background in philanthropy, strong community relationships and passion for facilitating positive change, she is uniquely positioned to lead the organization,†Hesser said in a news release.
Edgerton also has more than 25 years of experience in planned gift fundraising, nonprofit management, law and estate and tax planning. She is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s College of Journalism and Mass Communication and the University of Iowa College of Law.
She has served on various civic and volunteer associations including the Lincoln-Lancaster County Planning Commission, Charitable Gift Planners of Nebraska, Nebraska Bar Association and the Lincoln Estate Planning Council. She also volunteers as a mentor for Lincoln TeamMates and has served on the Abendmusik at First Plymouth board of directors.
The last day for Gorynski, who has led the foundation as president and CEO since December 2021, is Aug. 2. In June, Gorynski said he will be taking on a role at the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Partnership as senior vice president for economic development.
