A 65-year-old inmate at the Nebraska State Penitentiary died at 11:55 Sunday night, according to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.
Joe Rodriquez was serving a life sentence for two counts of first-degree murder from Hall County. His sentence began on Sept. 12, 1988.
While the cause of death has not been determined, the department says Rodriquez was being treated for a long-term medical condition. As is the case whenever an inmate dies in custody, a grand jury will conduct an investigation.
