After joining her father, Bryan Olesen, on stage during his blind auditions for “The Voice,†Lincoln's Jadyn Olesen is ready to take center stage all by herself.
On Monday, the 23-year-old Olesen announced her upcoming appearance on the 27th season of the hit NBC singing competition, which is set to premiere Feb. 3, with taped blind auditions airing the following day on Peacock.
"It's completely surreal," Bryan Olesen said in a phone interview. "It's going to be exciting to see it all unfold and I can't wait just to cheer on that moment and experience her journey."
Jadyn, lead singer of AM/FM, the ’80s cover band based in Lincoln, is stepping into the spotlight as she follows the musical footsteps of her 50-year-old father, whose own journey on "The Voice" captivated audiences last year.
"I decided to audition for this season because I got to see my dad go through his season and change and grow as an artist and just have so much fun," Jadyn said in a text message. "It just really seemed like something that would be really good and fun for me."
Two seasons ago, Bryan Olesen’s blind audition with a rendition of OneRepublic’s “Love Runs Out†helped him advance to the show's "battle round" stage after he garnered approval from the judges.
“I want to be clear how great that performance was,†John Legend, who was Bryan Olesen's coach on the show, said at the time. "That was the best audition we’ve seen."

Bryan Olesen, who fronts the Christian rock band VOTA, later brought his daughter on stage to duet Corinne Bailey Rae’s “Put Your Records On.â€Â
"I was literally shaking," Jadyn Olesen said. "I also couldn't hear myself at all so I had to wait a year for it to air to see if it was any good or not. It was just so scary overall, but at the same time, the best experience ever."
The spur-of-the-moment performance helped fuel the opportunity to carve her own path on the show.Â
"She just kind of embraced that moment. I just said, 'You might want to consider doing this as well,'" Bryan Olesen said. "To just see her kind of lean in and believe in herself, as a dad, is what's just most thrilling."
Bryan went on to finish in third place in the show's 25th season, which wrapped up last May.
If Jadyn Olesen makes it through the audition stage, she will become the fifth singer with Lincoln ties to make it to the battle round of the singing contest, joining her father, Sam Stacy in 2020, Josh Hoyer in 2017, and Hannah Huston, who was a preschool teacher in Lincoln when she made it to the finals in 2016.
