The top places to dine outdoors in Lincoln

In our online survey asking for the best place for outdoor dining, readers tended to favor the Haymarket for their picks, while my choices skewed more toward the rest of Lincoln.
There was one consensus, however. Both readers and I chose The Lodge at Wilderness Ridge as No. 1.
With a large patio situated off the gorgeous log building, which resembles a ski lodge, Wilderness Ridge is Lincoln’s go-to place for outdoor eating.
Here’s a rundown of my favorites, followed by readers' choices.

1. The Lodge at Wilderness Ridge, 1800 Wilderness Woods Place. The view, which overlooks the lush, green golf course, is unmatched. I’ve known people to spend entire evenings rather than the hour or so it usually takes to enjoy a meal just because of the experience.

2. SchillingBridge, 575 Fallbrook Blvd. The tap room/restaurant’s large patio has become a gathering place for residents of the out-of-the-way Lincoln neighborhood. The patio’s big enough to accommodate live music and special events.

4. The Parthenon, 5500 S. 56th St. The Greek restaurant makes my list for its Dog Tuesdays, which began this week. Every Tuesday, dog owners are encouraged to “dine with their dogs†on the Parthenon’s umbrella-filled patio. There’s even a “canine buffet†for the pooches. Dogs also are welcome other days of the week.
