Shopko on Wednesday announced plans to close dozens more stores, including several in Nebraska.
The Green Bay, Wisconsin-based retailer declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy last month and announced plans to close all of its Lincoln stores. At the time, it also said it would close Shopko Hometown stores in Kimball, Ord and Plattsmouth.
On Wednesday, the chain announced plans to close the Shopko store in Norfolk as well as eight more Shopko Hometown stores, including ones in Auburn, Beatrice and Falls City.
The stores are all slated to close in May. The Lincoln store at 3400 N. 27th St. is scheduled to close next month, while the other three are scheduled to close in April.
The recently announced closures leave only three Shopko and five Shopko Hometown stores scheduled to remain open in the state.

“During the time we spent here, it was great to have the customers we did have and we'll miss them just as much as they miss us,†he said.
