Charter Communications on Tuesday announced the launch of its Spectrum brand in Lincoln.
Charter, which completed its purchase of Time Warner Cable earlier this year, has been steadily switching markets to Spectrum. In August, company officials said the switchover in Lincoln likely wouldn't happen until early next year.
According to Charter, Spectrum is America’s fastest-growing TV, Internet and voice provider. Among its features are Internet speeds starting at 60 megabits, much faster than Time Warner's lowest speeds. There are no data caps or modem fees, and customers are not required to sign contracts.
Wes Shirley, a Charter spokesman, said that people with a Time Warner plan that has an internet speed of 50 megabits will have that speed bumped up to 60. Some residential customers with speeds below 50 megabits may see a slight increase in speed. Cable and phone plans will not change unless customers choose to switch to a Spectrum plan.

Over the coming days and weeks, customers will begin to see the Spectrum brand on everything formerly Time Warner Cable, including box displays, bill statements and retail store signage, Shirley said.
Charter also plans to make all acquired Time Warner markets all-digital, although it has not said when that will occur in Lincoln. The company said it plans to add 20,000 jobs nationwide. It has not said how many people will be hired in Lincoln.
